We tested the stone on the kiridashi shown among the product images. We spent 2 minutes in one corner of the stone, and the result is nothing short of magical. A creamy-smooth stone that is still very hard, delivering a kasumi finish that is completely free of scratches. What a stone!

The quality, weight, and shape of this caliber are nothing short of rare. Tanaka-san, who owns the mineral rights to the Nakayama mine, says that such a stone is found only once every three years at best. We are honored to have been asked to take over this rarity. This autumn we will further strengthen our ties with Tanaka-san, partly by visiting his workshop in Kyoto, but above all by launching an entirely new series of synthetic stones of absolute top quality.
