Strop block end-grain
Kategori

Strop made from Swedish end-grain oak. The rust-red leather comes from Tärnsjö tannery, vegetable-tanned for maximum effectiveness. The strop acts like a final polishing stone, allowing you to quickly and easily remove the last burr and enjoy a razor-sharp edge.
Dimensions: 190 x 75 mm
Thickness: 20 mm
Weight: 200 grams
A generously sized leather strop that gives your knives their final, razor-sharp finish. The strop is made from the highest quality leather (vegetable-tanned from Tärnsjö), and we highly recommend it as a complement to your primary sharpening routine.
Instructions:
-
Place the strop in front of you on a non-slip surface.
-
Place the knife at the start of the strop and pull the blade forward. Note: Pull the blade away from the edge—the opposite of a cutting motion! Then flip the blade and repeat the motion. Do this a few times until the edge feels truly sharp.
Make sure to use the same angle the knife’s primary edge was sharpened at. If you're unsure of the angle, a good rule of thumb is that Japanese knives are sharpened at about 15 degrees. Also, try to maintain a smooth and even stroke.
If you want to take your stropping even further, you can condition the leather with oil, apply an abrasive spray, or use a polishing paste (such as Autosol or Tormek paste). However, we recommend using the leather untreated, as additives can make it sticky or stiff when they dry. Moreover, an overly polished edge can lose its bite and may start to feel slippery when cutting something like a tomato.
An untreated leather strop can become your best sharpening companion for years—always ready at a moment’s notice.
