Takobiki | Hon San Mai Damascus

Takobiki 302 mm | Mazaki | Hon San Mai Damascus
A long, hand-forged takobiki slicer from Naoki Mazaki – one of the most highly regarded blacksmiths working in Sanjo, Japan. This knife is forged in hon san mai damascus, a three-layer construction in which the outer cladding itself consists of many folded layers. The blade is forged using the warikomi method, where a groove is cut into soft iron and the core steel (shirogami#2) is inserted by hand. The result is a C-shaped cladding that surrounds the edge for optimal strength and control.
With a 302 mm blade and clearly tapered geometry, this slicer balances weight with precision. A rounded spine, thin edge, and tapered profile make it a pleasure to use for fine, controlled slicing. The overall feel is rugged but refined – a tool built for serious use.
The octagonal handle is made from ebony, paired with a blond buffalo horn bolster. Delivered in a kiribox with handwritten kanji by Naoki Mazaki himself.
