Shigeki Tanaka is the blacksmith who crafts these fantastic knives, which are as beautiful as they are sharp. The blade has an inner core of SG-2 powder steel, which provides incredibly sharp and durable edge retention with an impressive hardness of 62–63 HRC. Surrounding the core are 32 layers of steel, creating a stunningly beautiful pattern. The handle is made from exquisite desert ironwood, shaped to fit the hand. All knives are delivered in a wooden box.
The knife series was originally created as a collaboration between Shigeki, his uncle, and his father—the legendary blacksmith Yoshikazu Tanaka, who sadly passed away in 2012. Shigeki and his uncle still make the knife as a tribute to his father, but production is extremely limited, and there are often many years between each delivery.
