The core steel is called Gingami #3, which is a very fine stainless steel with a hardness of 61 HRC. Around the core steel are several layers of stainless steel (called Damascus steel) with a spectacular texture that has been polished to a mirror finish.

The handle is octagonal and made from ebony with a buffalo horn ferrule.
