Bunka
A bunka knife with a 180 mm blade.
Taguchi is a young blacksmith from Takefu Knife Village who recently began forging under his own name after spending several years working alongside Yoshimi Kato. This is one of the very first knives to leave his own workshop, and we are proud to introduce his work outside of Japan.
The knife features a 180 mm blade with a core of stainless Gingami #3 (Ginsan) steel. This steel offers an excellent combination of outstanding sharpness, good edge retention, and easy maintenance. The blade geometry is thin behind the edge, with an impressive distal taper from the heel all the way to the tip, giving the knife a light, agile feel in hand while delivering exceptional cutting precision.
The blade is clad in multiple layers of steel that create a subtle sense of depth and movement. The finish is brushed and understated, allowing the craftsmanship to speak for itself.
