This steel is extremely hard while offering better corrosion resistance and longer edge retention than most other carbon steels. The blade features a hand-hammered (tsuchime) finish for a striking appearance, while the lower portion is clad in 16-layer Damascus steel. The knife is fitted with a traditional D-shaped handle made from red sandalwood with a black pakkawood bolster.
The blades in this series are forged by Asai, one of Japan's most highly regarded blacksmiths. Renowned among knife enthusiasts for his outstanding craftsmanship, Asai has created a series that is no exception. Its an exceptional collection of knives for those who appreciate the very finest Japanese cutlery.
