Sakimaru Takobiki Montanren

Sakimaru takobiki with 275 mm long blade, measured from tip to handle. The blade is forged in mon-tan-ren technique. This means that core steel is shaped into a wave pattern before its laminated. This creates a very spectacular appearance reminiscent of waves on the sea, something that is made only by the most distinguished blacksmiths. The knives are true masterpieces that take their place in the top tier of single-bevel knives.Single bevel (kataba)

Satoshi Nakagawa is a blacksmith who makes incredibly fine blades. He workes out of Sakai in Japan. He forges all the blades by hand and he also laminates the steel by hand. The steel that Nakagawa uses is a carbon steel called Aogami#2. It is not stainless and should be wiped dry to prevent rusting. Satoshi Nakagawa worked for a long time as a blacksmith at Shiraki Hamono, but has been independent for some time now and has taken the knife world by storm. Strongly praised for his innovative design and his sense of functional design.
